1. Our Commitment

BlackVale Protective Services is committed to making our website, blackvale.net, accessible to all visitors, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, or alternative input devices. We believe that the same discretion and care we apply to physical protection should extend to every digital interaction with our brand.

2. Conformance Standard

This website is designed and maintained to substantially conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the standard most commonly referenced by U.S. courts, the U.S. Department of Justice, and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act enforcement in the context of digital accessibility. It is also the standard recommended by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III guidance.

3. Accessibility Features Implemented

The following features have been built into this site to support accessibility:

  • Keyboard navigation throughout the site, with visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • A "Skip to main content" link on every page for screen reader and keyboard users
  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) for assistive technology orientation
  • Sufficient color contrast on body text, headings, and interactive elements per WCAG 1.4.3 (AA)
  • Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images; decorative images marked as such
  • Properly labeled form fields on the booking, contact, and newsletter forms
  • Form validation messages announced to screen readers through ARIA live regions
  • Respect for the operating system's "Reduce Motion" preference (animations disabled when requested)
  • Responsive layout that reflows correctly at 320 pixels wide and supports up to 200% browser zoom without loss of content
  • Captioned landmarks and accessible disclosure controls in the footer office directory
  • Phone, email, and concierge contact information available without filling out a form

4. Ongoing Effort

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We review this site on a recurring basis using a combination of automated tools, manual keyboard testing, and content review. When new pages or features are added, they are tested against the same WCAG 2.2 AA criteria before being published.

If we discover that a piece of content does not meet our accessibility standard, we will work to remediate it as quickly as reasonably possible. Where remediation is not yet complete, we will offer an alternative way to access the information — typically by phone, email, or text.

5. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content on this site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. Known limitations include:

  • Embedded Google Maps: The interactive map on our Contact page is rendered by Google and may not provide the same keyboard and screen reader experience as our own content. Pickup coverage is also described in text below the map.
  • Third-party analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 for site measurement. Tracking can be limited via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Information" control in our footer, and analytics signals are gated through Google Consent Mode v2.

We are actively monitoring these areas and will publish updates as we expand our accessible alternatives.

6. Requesting Assistance or Reporting an Issue

If you experience a barrier on this site, or if you would like information presented in a different format (large print, plain text email, a phone walk-through of the booking process, etc.), please contact our concierge team. We treat accessibility requests with the same priority as any other client inquiry.
